ENG: Beyond The Cool is a graduation project from visual storyteller and art educator Kesha Felipa. Her personal experiences as  black woman in the white fashion and art world formed her point of departure for her graduation year 2021/22 for her Visual Arts and Design teacher training course at Fontys School for Fine and Performing (FHK). In September 2022 Felipa started with the Master Art Education (FHK).

Beyond The Cool is an ongoing research for art education platform that explores black ways of storytelling. Beyond The Cool explores subcultures and thus also the stories, symbols and rituals of these subcultures. These elements of (sub)cultures are often seen as cool, but say a lot about the perspectives and attitudes of marginalized groups around the world.

Beyond The Cool does that by showing the arts created by the different subcultures. These arts are still not seen as an art form within the context of the white cube and higher art education. And are therefore not (yet) seen as art of value, meaningful, important or good.u
